In today's 24-point win over the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks PG Jason Kidd had a season-high 20 assists. That sets a Mavericks franchise record for assists in a game as does his 16 assists in the first half.
Not only did Kidd set franchise records, he passed Magic Johnson and moved into third place on the NBA all-time assists list.
With 10,148 career assists, Kidd trails only John Stockton (15,806) and Mark Jackson (10,334).
Kidd is currently fifth in the NBA in assists (8.4 apg).
After today's win over Phoenix, the Mavericks have a four-game lead over the Suns for the eighth and final playoff spot. To clinch, the Mavs need to win only one of their remaining five games. Also, they will clinch if the Suns lose one of their final five games.
