That sets a Mavericks franchise record for assists in a game as does his 16 assists in the first half.<br /><br />Not only did Kidd set franchise records, <a href="http://www.star-telegram.com/526/story/1300320.html">he passed Magic Johnson</a> and moved into third place on the NBA all-time assists list.<br /><br />With 10,148 career assists, Kidd trails only John Stockton (15,806) and Mark Jackson (10,334).<br /><br />Kidd is currently fifth in the NBA in assists (8.4 apg).<br /><br />After today's win over Phoenix, the Mavericks have a four-game lead over the Suns for the eighth and final playoff spot. To clinch, the Mavs need to win only one of their remaining five games.
